The B.C. Rich ASM 1 is an electric guitar that is not short on looks or features! Reliable and growling B.C. Rich B.D.S.M pickups coupled with a vintage style tremolo allow you to throw down your best riffs with style. B.C. Rich even added their signature hollowpoint inlays on the fretboard. The flat-top styling gives a bold and pristine look to the guitar's edge.
Bolt-on Construction
A number of B.C. Rich guitars use a classic bolt-on construction. On these guitars the neck is connected to the body with 4 bolts. This construction offers some added flexibility in the guitar's adjustment and provides the option to change the neck in the future.
B.C. Rich BDSM Pickups
B.C. Rich designed their BDSM humbucking pickups to provide a solid sound and to be durable while delivering high output. BDSM stands for Broad Dynamic Sonically Matched. Which simply means that the pickup is designed to reproduce a wide range of frequencies accurately (broad dynamic). Then they are tested and matched in pairs (Neck and Bridge) by their inherent individual and signature tonal and output characteristics to give a solidly balanced tone (sonically matched).
The Assassin was introduced in 1986. It was a double cutaway that was a departure for the odd shaped models that B.C. Rich was known for up until that time. In 1986, there were other double cutaways that B.C. Rich began making with various headstocks, pickup configurations, controls and finishes. The ASM model was one of these double cutaways but was introduced much later. There was an ASM 1 and ASM 2, with slightly different shapes and point shapes, but the more pointed and sleek model eventually settled in as the standard ASM shape. The Outlaw originally had holes drilled in the upper bout, but later models were more traditional looking, they were mostly bolt on necks like most of the double cutaway B.C. Rich guitars.
